If you’re curious about SEN but want the flexibility to explore different settings, agency work can be the perfect way to build experience, confidence, and clarity at the start of your career.

Teaching Personnel are working with a wide range of SEN schools, SEMH provisions, PRUs, and inclusive mainstream settings across East Manchester—offering flexible roles for Early Career Teachers (ECTs) looking to broaden their experience.

Why Start on Agency in SEN?

  • Rapid development of behaviour management and adaptive teaching skills
  • Experience supporting pupils with additional and complex needs
  • The flexibility to choose placements that suit your goals and availability
  • A strong foundation for careers in SEND, inclusion, or pastoral leadership

Your Role

You’ll support pupils aged 5–16 with a wide range of needs, including:

  • SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health)
  • Autism, ADHD, and communication needs

  • Trauma and attachment-related needs

In your role, you will:

✅ Deliver or support adapted, inclusive lessons
✅ Build positive, consistent relationships with pupils
✅ Use behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
✅ Support emotional regulation and engagement in learning
✅ Work collaboratively with SENCOs, support staff, and pastoral teams
✅ Help create safe, structured, and nurturing learning environments

This is a role where your impact is immediate and your development is constant.

Why ECTs Choose This Route

This is the ideal pathway if you want to gain confidence, explore SEN, and strengthen your teaching practice before settling into a permanent role.

You’ll receive:

  • Free CPD training (SEN, SEMH, behaviour, safeguarding & more)
  • Guidance from a dedicated SEN specialist consultant
  • Opportunities in high-quality provisions across the area
  • Flexible short-term, long-term, and temp-to-perm roles
  • Competitive weekly pay

Future pathways:

  • SEN / SEMH Teacher roles
  • SENCO or Inclusion Lead
  • Behaviour or Pastoral Lead
  • Alternative Provision specialist
  • Further study in Educational or Clinical Psychology
