Early Years Teaching Assistant

 

Location: Tameside SK14

Job Type: Full-time, 8.30am-3.30pm (until October half term)

Salary: £13.75- £14.50 per hour

Start date: Monday 8th September 2025

We are seeking a warm, caring, and enthusiastic EYFS Teaching Assistant to join our Early Years team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a supportive school in the SK14 area, striving to develop respectful children who make a difference within the wider school community.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the class teacher throughout the school day, monitor and record pupil’s progress and provide feedback to the teacher.
  • Work with children on a small group and 1:1 basis during Continuous Provision and teaching of Maths and Phonics.
  • Upholding the school ethos and implementing relevant policies including behaviour.
  • Support with developing reading fluency through delivering 1-1 interventions and reading sessions with children of a range of abilities and needs.

We’re Looking for Someone Who:

  • Has experience working with children (EYFS setting is desirable but not essential).
  • Holds a relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistant Certificate). The school have stated this is desirable but not essential.
  • Has a good understanding of the EYFS curriculum and child development.
  • Is proactive, patient, and nurturing with excellent communication skills.
  •  Works effectively as part of a team and builds positive relationships with children and staff.
  • A valid DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
