Teaching Personnel are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic EAL Teaching Assistant to support bilingual and multi-lingual students across our client school located in Manchester.

Due to its inner city location, our client school has a high percentage of students with English as an additional language (over 50%). We are therefore looking for an EAL specialist Teaching Assistant who can join our client school to support the academic progress of EAL students. The successful Teaching Assistant will join our client school in September 2019 and will be working with both students and staff in various subject areas supporting the integration of students with English as an additional language.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting EAL students in lessons, and with individuals or small groups of students outside of lessons, supporting their learning and behaviour. We are looking for an organised individual who enjoys working with young people, has a flexible and positive approach and is able to work as part of a team as well as on their own.

An EAL or Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) qualification is desirable for this role and all successful candidates will possess a C grade in GCSE English and Maths or equivalent. Prior experience of supporting children with English as an additional language in a UK secondary school setting is essential for this role.

This position would be well suited to Language graduates who wish to gain school based experience prior to embarking on Teacher Training in 2020 or those who have prior experience working with young people with complex needs including EAL and SEN.

Our client school is located in the East area of Manchester, located a short drive from the city centre and easily accessible via public transport. The school has just fewer than 800 pupils on roll and serves a diverse community of all background and cultures.
