EAL Learning Mentor required in Peterborough for a Secondary School

  • Providing support to students with English as an Additional Language
  • Liaising with Teachers and other staff to implement the best support is in place
  • Working one to one or with small groups

Teaching Personnel are seeking a learning mentor to support EAL students in Key Stage 3, 4 and 5, who have English as an Additional Language.

The role would be ideal for someone who is able to build a good relationship with students, helping them to improve their English through varied activities, in and out of the classroom.

The role of a learning mentor is to provide learning parallel to the education provided by teachers and staff, being sensitive to the learners needs and helping them overcome any difficulties they may face. A learning mentor should be able to work with a range of pupils, giving their full attention to those who need it most. They may be required to work one to one or with a small group of students. Some children may struggle with reading, writing, and classwork, with socialising or making friends.

The ideal candidate should:

?Have excellent communication and listening skills.

?Be determined to follow solutions through to the end

?Have an ability to build a strong rapport with students

?Be able to motivate and encourage students to help them achieve their full potential.

?Have good organisational and time management skills.

?Be flexible and calm in your approach
