Location: Plymouth and surrounding areas
Salary: £88 – £95 per day
Job Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only

About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Driving SEN Learning Support Assistant to work within our SEN Outreach Team, supporting children from Primary SEN settings across the Plymouth area. This is a highly rewarding and dynamic role where you'll help children with a variety of special educational needs (SEN) to access tailored learning outside of a traditional classroom setting.
This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about inclusive education, enjoys working flexibly across different environments and is confident working 1:1 or in small groups. You will often escort children in your own vehicle to and from outreach sessions, making a full, clean UK driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle essential.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Provide tailored 1:1 or small group support to children with SEN in community or alternative settings.
-
Assist in delivering structured learning sessions based on individual EHCP targets.
-
Escort and supervise children safely in your own vehicle to and from outreach provisions (mileage allowance provided).
-
Liaise with school staff, SENCOs, and other professionals to ensure continuity of care and education.
-
Support the emotional, behavioural, and academic development of pupils in a nurturing, patient manner.
-
Accurately record session outcomes and provide feedback to the wider SEN team.
Requirements:
-
Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (ASD, ADHD, SEMH, MLD, etc.)
-
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle suitable for transporting children (business insurance may be required).
-
A calm, resilient, and flexible approach to working with young people.
-
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
-
An enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply for one).
-
Relevant qualification or training in SEN support is desirable but not essential.
Benefits:
-
Daily rate of £88 to £95, depending on experience.
-
Regular, consistent hours during school term-time.
-
Mileage reimbursement for use of your own car.
-
Ongoing training and professional development.
-
Supportive outreach team environment with regular supervision.

If you’re passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with SEN and meet the requirements above, we would love to hear from you. Apply today with your up-to-date CV and a brief cover statement.
