Director of Sport and Physical Wellbeing
Location: Enfield, North East London
Start Date: January 2026 or sooner
Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent
Salary: MPS + TLR2b + £2,000 bonus

An inclusive and community-focused all-through academy in North East London is seeking to appoint a passionate and ambitious Director of Sport and Physical Wellbeing to lead the strategic development of PE and sport across both Primary and Secondary phases.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape and deliver a forward-thinking vision for physical education, with the full support of a motivated team and well-resourced department. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring all pupils experience high-quality sport provision that promotes inclusion, engagement, and a lifelong love of physical activity.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead the PE department to ensure high-quality teaching across all key stages.

Develop and deliver an engaging, inclusive curriculum that reflects the academy’s values.

Promote physical wellbeing and increase student participation in sport and physical activity.

Create a stimulating learning environment and foster a culture of enthusiasm for sport.

Liaise with external partners and sporting organisations to enhance provision and opportunities.
The ideal candidate will:

Be an experienced and dynamic teacher with a passion for PE and sport.

Have a strong track record of delivering excellent outcomes and leading others.

Demonstrate creativity, vision, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Be confident in working with a range of age groups and stakeholders.

Bring energy, innovation, and a genuine desire to positively impact student wellbeing.
The academy offers excellent facilities, including access to age-appropriate physical resources and on-site gym facilities. Staff benefit from regular CPD, personal development support, and a welcoming and collaborative working environment. All teaching staff and pupils are issued with their own iPads to support learning.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
