Job description

An improving school in East Oldham is seeking a Design and Technology teacher with a specialism in Resistant Materials, Product Design or Engineering. The school has invested in its D&T provision over the last two years and now boasts upgraded workshops, laser cutters, 3D printers, and CAD/CAM software that allows students to explore design principles at every level.

The department is part of the wider Technology and Creative Arts faculty, which has seen a sharp rise in student interest and exam uptake. Students follow a project-based curriculum at Key Stage 3 and complete practical coursework as part of the AQA GCSE D&T pathway at KS4. Health and safety systems are well established, and experienced technicians are on hand to support day-to-day delivery.

Behaviour and engagement are good, and students respond positively to practical, hands-on learning. SLT provide strong backing to vocational subjects, and there is excellent support for building employer links and cross-curricular enrichment (e.g. STEM weeks, enterprise projects).

This role would suit a specialist who is excited about delivering high-quality technical education and helping shape the future of a developing department. Applications from ECTs and experienced teachers are equally encouraged.
