Deputy Head of Sixth Form (with Teaching Responsibilities in Business Studies and Economics)

A leading and highly regarded all-through school is seeking to appoint an exceptional and ambitious Deputy Head of Sixth Form to join its thriving and dynamic team from September 2025, or earlier by mutual agreement. This is a permanent position with teaching responsibilities in Business Studies and Economics.
The Role
The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Sixth Form to provide strategic and operational leadership, playing a key role in the academic and pastoral development of the Sixth Form. The post holder will also deliver high-quality teaching in Business Studies and/or Economics and contribute to the wider life of the school.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the leadership and management of the Sixth Form, with a focus on student achievement, welfare, and progression
- Contribute to strategic planning and the implementation of Sixth Form development priorities
- Support the organisation and delivery of key Sixth Form events, including open evenings, UCAS applications, careers guidance, and enrichment programmes
- Provide academic and pastoral support to students, including mentoring and progress monitoring
- Deliver engaging and effective lessons in Business Studies and/or Economics, fostering a passion for the subjects
- Collaborate with colleagues to maintain and enhance high standards of teaching and learning
Requirements
Essential:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- A degree in Business Studies, Economics, or a related field
- Proven track record of successful teaching in Business Studies and/or Economics at Key Stage 5
- Demonstrable experience of supporting or leading in a pastoral or academic role, preferably in a Sixth Form setting
- Strong understanding of the UCAS process and post-18 progression pathways
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- A commitment to student wellbeing and achievement
- Ability to inspire and motivate both students and staff
Desirable:
- Leadership qualification or relevant professional development in educational leadership
- Experience working in a high-achieving, inclusive school environment
- Familiarity with data analysis and its use in student progress tracking and intervention planning
