Job description

A vibrant and inclusive mainstream secondary school in Bournemouth is seeking a skilled and motivated Dance Teacher to join their Creative Arts provision, starting as soon as possible.

This role offers the opportunity to teach Dance across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering high-quality practical and theory-based lessons that inspire creativity, confidence, and self-expression. The successful candidate will be confident planning engaging schemes of work, assessing pupil progress effectively, and adapting delivery to suit a wide range of abilities and learning styles.

Dance is a valued subject within the school, with strong uptake and positive pupil engagement. The department benefits from dedicated studio space and a leadership team that actively supports the arts within the curriculum.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Teaching Dance at KS3 and KS4 in line with the national curriculum

  • Creating dynamic, inclusive lessons that encourage participation and progress

  • Supporting students through performance, choreography, and evaluation

  • Managing behaviour effectively to maintain a safe and focused learning environment

  • Contributing positively to the wider life of the school and department

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have proven experience delivering Dance at secondary level (KS3 & KS4 essential)

  • Hold QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification

  • Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and classroom presence

  • Be enthusiastic, organised, and passionate about Dance education
