Teaching Personnel are currently seeking day-to-day cover teaching staff across Derby and Derbyshire.

Cover teaching is ideal for aspiring secondary school teachers or recent graduates who are considering a career within the education sector. Working as a cover teacher means that you will work in a variety of different schools across the Derby/shire area on a daily basis - perfect to fit around other commitments!

Teaching Personnel pay a daily rate of up to £75 per day to work the hours 8.30am - 3.30pm (the school day varies and you may only work until 3pm, depending on the school).

The ideal candidate:

  • Be able to work a minimum of 2 days per week)
  • Have or be willing to apply for a child only workforce DBS and register this to the update service
  • Be happy to receive work calls in the morning from 7am
  • Has a UK drivers licence

Your role and responsibilities will include:

  • Covering lessons in the absence of the timetabled teacher
  • Supervising the delivery of the cover work by effectively communicating the work set to students
  • Managing the behaviour of pupils whilst they are undertaking set work to ensure a positive learning
  • Collecting completed work after lesson and returning it to the appropriate teacher
  • Reporting back as appropriate, using the school's standard procedures on the behaviour of pupils during the class, and any issues arising
