Job description

Cover Supervisor – Sunderland Secondary Schools
Competitive Daily Rates, September 2026

Teaching Personnel is recruiting Cover Supervisors for secondary schools across Sunderland from September 2026. Previous experience in a Cover Supervisor role is desirable, and candidates who have already worked through a supply agency will understand exactly what the role demands — and what to look for in an agency that actually supports you properly.

If you're with an agency that isn't delivering — whether that's limited school options, poor communication, or rates that don't reflect your experience — Teaching Personnel works with a broad network of Sunderland secondary schools and offers something more straightforward: honest information, reliable bookings, and a consultant who is easy to get hold of.

What the role involves:

  • Supervising classes across KS3 and KS4 and delivering pre-set work
  • Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining high expectations
  • Following school procedures and providing brief feedback to staff
  • Adapting confidently to different schools and year groups

What we're looking for:

  • Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor — desirable
  • Prior agency experience is advantageous
  • Confident managing a secondary school classroom independently
  • Reliable, professional, and adaptable
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one

What Teaching Personnel offers:

  • Competitive daily rates paid weekly via PAYE
  • Access to a wide network of Sunderland secondary schools
  • Guaranteed Work Scheme for financial stability
  • Free CPD and development opportunities
  • Dedicated consultant support

Contract: Long-term, Start: September 2026, Location: Sunderland secondary schools

Send your CV or call 0191 223 5071.

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
