Job description

Teaching Personnel are seeking an enthusiastic and adaptable Cover Supervisor to join a highly regarded secondary school in Selsey, Chichester. This full-time position is perfect for individuals hoping to gain valuable classroom experience or explore a future career in teaching.

About the Role

In this role, you will supervise classes of students aged 11–16 during teacher absences, ensuring lessons run smoothly and learning continues as planned. You will deliver pre-prepared lesson materials, manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive, focused environment. The position also includes occasional support for pupils with special educational needs (SEN).

Key Responsibilities

As a Cover Supervisor, you will deliver and oversee pre-set lessons across a variety of subjects for students aged 11–16. You will promote positive behaviour and uphold the school’s policies and expectations while keeping students engaged and on task throughout the day. The role also involves providing targeted support to SEN pupils when needed and offering feedback to teaching staff regarding student behaviour and engagement.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with secondary-aged pupils, particularly with some exposure to SEN. You should bring a confident classroom presence and be able to adapt to different teaching environments with ease. Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive rapport with students are essential, alongside a genuine passion for supporting young people and contributing to their educational success.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
