Teaching Personnel are seeking to recruit Cover Supervisors for Secondary schools in Northampton!


Salary: £90-£130 per day (varied depending on experience and qualifications)

Hours of work: 37.5 hours a week (or ad-hoc flexible)

Start date: September 2025


Role:

Are you a looking to gain experience in education? Do you want the chance to work across a range of different year groups within Secondary Education?

Teaching Personnel is working with secondary schools located across Northampton and offering opportunities to Cover Supervisors. We are looking for Graduates with subject-specific knowledge ideally local to the area to support secondary schools in the area.

You are not required to have a teaching qualification to be successful, just up to date and relevant experience working with young people. This is a perfect opportunity for a recent graduate or someone who is potentially looking to start a career in education.

This position will allow you to gain experience managing a variety of lessons and building rapport with students. This is a chance to develop teaching and strong classroom management skills in an environment where planning will always be in place.

Responsibilities:

  • Working across a range of different year groups and departments
  • Managing the behaviour of students
  • Supervising pre-planned, pre-set work from teachers

Requirements of the Candidate:

  • Recent and relevant experience working with young people, this can be in an educational, coaching or care setting
  • Degree educated
  • Be passionate and committed to working with children in education
  • Have strong behaviour management skills
  • Be an effective communicator and have strong interpersonal skills
  • Be punctual, flexible and reliable

This is an ideal role for someone who is looking to develop their experience of working within a school environment or may wish to complete teacher training in the future.

During quieter periods for cover—particularly in the summer term—there are opportunities for paid exam invigilation work, which offers a valuable way to stay involved in the school environment. Free training is also available, ensuring you feel fully confident and prepared in your role.
