Mainstream Secondary School

A welcoming mainstream secondary school in Christchurch is seeking a reliable and confident Cover Supervisor to join their team from April 2026.

This role is ideal for someone looking to gain valuable experience in a secondary school setting, particularly those considering a future career in teaching or education. The successful candidate will supervise classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain on task and engaged with pre-set work.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising whole classes across KS3 and KS4 in the absence of the class teacher

  • Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies

  • Delivering pre-prepared lesson materials and instructions

  • Supporting students with their learning and maintaining a positive learning environment

  • Liaising with teaching and pastoral staff where required

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience working with young people (school-based experience desirable)

  • Be confident managing behaviour and maintaining classroom engagement

  • Have strong communication and organisational skills

  • Be adaptable, proactive and professional

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
