Cover Supervisor

Secondary School – Bournemouth

Location: Bournemouth, Dorset
Contract: Term time only | Full‑time / Part‑time (considered)
Start date: As soon as possible
Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)

The Role

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Cover Supervisor to join our friendly and supportive secondary school in Bournemouth. This role is ideal for someone considering a future career in teaching or education and who enjoys working with young people.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes during the short‑term absence of teaching staff, ensuring pupils remain on task and follow the work set by the class teacher.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise whole classes across Key Stages 3 and 4 during teacher absence
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
  • Ensure a productive and positive learning environment
  • Support students with their learning where appropriate
  • Report back on lesson outcomes and any concerns

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with young people (schools, tutoring, youth work, or similar)
  • Is confident managing classroom behaviour
  • Has strong communication and organisational skills
  • Is reliable, adaptable, and calm under pressure
  • Holds GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (essential)

Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor is desirable but not essential. Training and support will be provided.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
