Job description

A welcoming and well-regarded mainstream secondary school in Bournemouth is seeking to appoint a confident and reliable Cover Supervisor to join their team on a full-time basis from Easter.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual who enjoys working with young people and is considering a future career in teaching.

The Role:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will:

  • Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff

  • Deliver pre-set work and ensure students remain on task

  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies

  • Provide feedback to teaching staff following lessons

  • Support students in maintaining high standards of work and conduct

This role does not require planning or marking, but strong classroom management skills and confidence leading a class are essential.


The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience working with secondary-aged students (school-based experience desirable)

  • Be confident managing behaviour and leading a classroom independently

  • Have strong communication and organisational skills

  • Be adaptable, resilient and professional

  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Graduates, aspiring teachers, or experienced support staff are encouraged to apply.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
