Cover Supervisor (1:1 & Small Group Support) - Basildon

Location: Basildon, Essex
Job Type: Full-Time / Part-Time Available
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Are you an experienced Cover Supervisor looking for your next opportunity in Basildon? We are seeking a confident, proactive, and enthusiastic individual to support secondary school students in a welcoming and supportive school environment.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning during teacher absences. You will be responsible for supervising classes, delivering pre-planned lessons, supporting students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, and ensuring positive behaviour management throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects.
  • Manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Provide 1:1 support for students who require additional guidance.
  • Support small groups of pupils with their learning and engagement.
  • Encourage student participation and progression.
  • Follow school policies and safeguarding procedures.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and staff.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year's experience working within a school setting.
  • Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or similar role.
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to engage and motivate students of varying abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for supporting young people's education and development.
