Are you passionate about helping students achieve their academic potential? At Teaching Personnel, we are seeking dedicated and skilled 1:1 GCSE tutors to provide tailored support in core subjects as well as GCSE PE, Business, and Humanities. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with students who need extra help to succeed and make a lasting impact on their education.
About the Role
As a 1:1 GCSE tutor, you will work with students outside of mainstream education, delivering focused and personalized tuition across a range of GCSE subjects. You will provide academic support to help them excel in their exams, as well as address any barriers to learning they may face. Your role will also involve actively listening to students, understanding their individual needs, and fostering their confidence as they prepare for their GCSEs.
Subjects covered include:

Core subjects: English, Mathematics, Science

Optional subjects: PE, Business, Humanities (History, Geography, etc.)

Life skills and study strategies for exam preparation
Sessions typically take place in the student’s home or a suitable local setting, and hours can range from 1 to 15 hours per week, providing you with flexibility in your schedule.
Who We’re Looking For
This role is ideal for:

Qualified teachers (QTS/QTLS) with GCSE experience in one or more of the core or optional subjects

Experienced tutors with a passion for helping students prepare for their GCSE exams

Individuals who can foster an engaging, supportive learning environment and build trust with students
You will have the opportunity to work with students aged 14-16, helping them to improve academically and develop effective study habits ahead of their exams.
What You’ll Do

Provide 1:1 tuition in English, Maths, Science, PE, Business, and Humanities

Develop and deliver engaging lessons tailored to each student’s needs and learning style

Use active listening and empathy to understand the challenges your students face and help them overcome obstacles to learning

Help students build confidence in their academic abilities and prepare effectively for their GCSE exams

Collaborate with families to track progress and adjust learning strategies when needed
Essential Qualifications and Skills
-
QTS, QTLS, or equivalent teaching qualification (preferred)
-
Experience working with GCSE-level students in core subjects or optional subjects

Ability to develop and deliver lessons that are personalized, engaging, and goal-oriented
-
Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient approach to teaching

A solid understanding of GCSE exam requirements and study techniques

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
