Teacher of Computer Science – Secondary School – Waltham Forest
Location: Waltham Forest, East London
Position: Teacher of Computer Science (Key Stage 3–4; Key Stage 5 desirable)
Contract: Permanent, full-time
Start Date: January 2026 or sooner by negotiation
Salary: MPS/UPS (Inner London): £36,745 – £56,959
A forward-thinking and inclusive secondary school in Waltham Forest is seeking to appoint a dedicated Teacher of Computer Science to join its growing Computing and Digital Technologies department from January 2026. This is a permanent opportunity to join a well-resourced, high-performing team in a school with a clear vision for digital learning and 21st-century skills.

With a student body that is diverse, aspirational, and engaged, the successful candidate will play a key role in preparing learners for the digital world — from coding fundamentals to software engineering principles and beyond.
Key responsibilities include:

Teaching Computer Science at KS3 and KS4, with the option to teach KS5 depending on experience

Planning and delivering engaging, well-structured lessons that foster curiosity and challenge

Supporting pupils to develop confidence with programming, systems architecture, and computational thinking

Contributing to curriculum development and the integration of new technologies

Using data to monitor progress and provide timely, targeted interventions

Playing an active role in extra-curricular activities and enrichment (e.g. coding clubs, STEM events)
The ideal candidate will:

Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS)

Have a degree in Computer Science, ICT, or a related discipline

Be passionate about digital literacy and the role of computing in modern education

Demonstrate strong subject knowledge, particularly in Python and programming fundamentals

Show a commitment to inclusion and a belief in the potential of every pupil

Be eager to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to wider school initiatives

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
