Full Time Teaching Assistants required in High Wycombe

Sector: Special Educational Needs

My School in High Wycombe are a large mixed SEN school which caters for Early Years, Primary and Secondary students.

The school are committed to support all students for their individual needs and are looking for caring and compassionate staff to support them.

The school have individual outside areas for certain classes as well as benefiting from large play areas which works very well with the different age groups. The classes are very small and benefit from a large number of support staff.

You will be working with the main class teacher as well as the other teaching assistants to support the students for all academic activities through the day. There are lots of fun activities so if you are hands on and like arts and crafts this may be the perfect role for you!

The school caters for:

  • Autism
  • Asperger’s Syndrome
  • Profound and multiple learning difficulties
  • Severe Learning difficulties
  • Social Emotional Mental Health Needs
  • Early years, Primary, Secondary and Post 16

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Trustworthy and reliable
  • Calm, patient and empathetic
  • Proactive and efficient
  • A team player and not afraid of getting ‘stuck in’
  • Flexible in their approach and willing to undertake a variety of tasks
  • Aware of positive behaviour management strategies, e.g. Team Teach (preferred but not essential)
  • Have some knowledge or experience working with Special Needs (Not essential as training will be provided)

The school ideally require teaching assistants who have experience working with Special Educational Needs. This can be in either a mainstream school or specialist school.

The leadership team also understands that some people may be interested in such role and have little or no experience. Their view is that the experience can only come from being given an opportunity. Something they are more than happy to provide.

As long as you have a genuine interest in working with Special Needs, enthusiastic and happy to learn and get stuck in he is happy to accept those with little or no experience with Special Needs. The school will also give you the opportunity to learn from highly experienced support staff and provide any relevant training to allow you to succeed.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later
