Teaching Assistants (Autism Support)

High Wycombe

Closing Date: 15th June

Start Date: September 2020

Hours: Monday - Friday (8.15am - 4pm)

Teaching Personnel are currently supporting a provision in High Wycombe that offers support to pupils with Autism and associated needs. Some pupils will have difficulty with managing emotions, social skill and communication skills. They are looking for Teaching Assistants to join the team in September 2020 due to an increase in pupil numbers. A full training programme is included for all new starters.

Job Description

  • 1:1 teaching sessions using reward based learning and positive reinforcement(the school will offer full training)
  • Key worker for 2-3 pupils, delivering intervention programmes specifically designed for each pupil needs
  • Reporting pupil progress to supervisors and therapist to help adapt intervention programmes
  • Collect data on pupil progress and input the information on graphs to track development
  • Engage pupils in activities inside and outside the classroom
  • Responsible for safeguarding the health and safety of pupils
  • Supporting the class teacher during class based activities and learning

Ideal Candidate:

  • Degree - Psychology, Health and Social Care, Social Studies, Education and Childcare or qualified to A-Level standard or equivalent
  • Keen to take on training and gain qualifications in the field of Special Educational Needs
  • Comfortable managing behaviour (full training is provided – Professional Crisis Management)
  • Positive attitude and an energetic personality
  • Experience working with children or adults with Special Education Needs (professional or personal) – Autism, ADHD, Behaviour and Speech Language Communication Needs

This vacancy would also be suited to a Teaching Assistant from either a background in mainstream schools or specialist schools looking to enhance their skills and knowledge in the field.
