Are you an experienced educator who understands that sometimes the biggest barrier to learning is not ability, but confidence, behaviour or emotional wellbeing?

Teaching Personnel is looking for a Classroom Learning Mentor to join a specialist SEND setting in Bovington from October 2026. This position is similar to a Teaching Assistant role, but with a stronger focus on pastoral support, mentoring and helping young people successfully engage with education.

What Does the Role Involve?

You will work closely with students throughout the school day, providing practical classroom assistance alongside consistent emotional and pastoral support.

• Supporting students with their learning on a 1:1 and small-group basis.
• Building trusting and professional relationships with young people.
• Helping pupils regulate emotions and re-engage when they are finding situations challenging.
• Encouraging positive choices, independence and resilience.
• Supporting teaching staff to maintain a calm and productive learning environment.
• Recognising when a student may need additional pastoral intervention or time away from the classroom.

Who Would Suit This Position?

We are looking for someone with previous experience supporting children or young people, ideally within SEND, SEMH, alternative provision or another specialist environment.

You will need to be confident, proactive and able to hit the ground running. The setting needs people who can establish appropriate boundaries while remaining approachable, patient and supportive.

Both full-time and part-time applicants are welcome, making this a great opportunity if you need some flexibility in your working week.
