Children’s Support Worker – Primary Schools
Location: Blackburn Primary schools (various sites)
Hours: Term-time / Part-time or Full-time (flexible)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Do you have a passion for helping children thrive? Are you patient, caring, and ready to make a real difference in a child’s school day? We’re looking for a Children’s Support Worker to join our team and support pupils in primary school settings.
About the Role
As a Children’s Support Worker, you will work closely with teachers and school staff to support children’s emotional, social, and learning needs. You may work one-to-one or with small groups, helping children build confidence, manage emotions, and engage positively with learning.
Key Responsibilities

Provide tailored support to children in the classroom and around school

Support pupils with additional needs (e.g. SEND, SEMH, or behavioural needs)

Encourage positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and social skills

Help children access the curriculum and stay engaged in learning
-
Build trusting, supportive relationships with children and staff
-
Follow school policies and safeguarding procedures at all times
About You
-
Caring, patient, and reliable
-
Passionate about working with children
-
Experience working with children (school, care, youth work, or similar) is desirable
-
Strong communication and teamwork skills
-
Able to remain calm and positive in challenging situations
-
Relevant qualifications or training are an advantage, but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
