Teaching Personnel are recruiting care assistants to support and care for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities for a partner school based in Jesmond.
There are numerous roles available to support pupils of all age ranges, from 0-17 years. Pupils at the school have a range of complex conditions which include behaviours that can challenge, epilepsy, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, Cerebral Palsy, Angelman Syndrome, Diabetes, Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome, Communication Difficulties, Dysphagia, PEG/ PEJ, reduced skin integrity and Autism.
Applicants with a background in care work (supporting either children or adults) or teaching assistant work would be ideally suited for the role.
Typical daily tasks include:
- assisting with personal care and continence requirements
- assisting with PEG or PEJ feeds.
- administering medication or medication prompts.
- assisting pupils with Dysphagia concerns at mealtimes
- supporting with classroom work
- supporting therapy session
A typical day would start at 8.30am-3.30pm. The roles are full time and temporary initially, however there is a strong possibility of a permanent contract for the right candidate.
