This inclusive and diverse school in south Manchester are eager to hire a Teaching Assistant for a fixed period, who is able to support Primary age students within their Hearing Impaired provision.
This amazing provision has specialist Teachers and Teaching Assistants who all use British Sign Language to teach the curriculum using a mixture of BSL and spoken English; hearing impaired students are also integrated into hearing classes and encouraged to participate in small group and team activities, to help build their communication confidence and equally teach the value of Sign Language as a community language to hearing students.

Role

The school is looking for a Teaching Assistant to cover for a fixed period of time. A Teaching Assistant must have;

• British Sign Language Level 3 minimum
• Some experience with interpreting/ translating

Ideally the school would like a Teaching Assistant to have experience in a school environment or with children before but are open to applications.

A Teaching Assistant should be enthusiastic, caring and patient and treat each child's well-being with utmost priority, helping the school to be a safe and inclusive space for all.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30am-3.30pm approximately, but you may be offered additional duties and responsibilities outside of these hours.

The school require on and off support throughout the year depending on student intake and staffing needs, so there is always opportunity for contract extension and permanent roles for staff who are a great asset to the school.
