Job description

Are you a compassionate, resilient, and skilled Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting deaf students? We are looking for an exceptional SEN TA to work with one of our specialist primary schools in the Bolton area.  This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine impact in the lives of children and young people with hearing impairments. You’ll be supporting both 1:1 and group interventions, helping pupils thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and inclusive support across general TA duties and SEN-specific interventions.
  • Work closely with pupils who are deaf, using British Sign Language (BSL) to communicate effectively.
  • Provide tailored 1:1 support and lead small group sessions.
  • Collaborate with teachers and therapists to implement EHCPs and learning plans.
  • Foster a nurturing and safe learning environment that promotes independence and confidence.

✅ Requirements:

  • Fluent in British Sign Language (BSL) – essential.
  • Current Child & Adult DBS (on the update service).
  • Proven experience working with deaf individuals, ideally in an educational setting.
  • A resilient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting SEN learners.
  • Ability to adapt and respond to individual needs with creativity and care.
  • Safeguarding training (Provided by us)
  • Employment references within the past 2 years
