Role: BSL Communication Support Assistant

School: All-Age Independent Special School

Location: Thornbury

Salary: £55-65 per day

Teaching Personnel is recruiting a BSL communication support assistant to work in an brilliant school in the Thornbury area. This school prides itself on being an excellent and innovative provider of care and education for students with educational needs and disabilities. In this role you will be supporting students with communication and associated difficulties, typically as a result of autism or Asperger's syndrome. These difficulties and additional needs also create barriers to learning as well as impact on the students emotional wellbeing and behaviour.

The facilities of this school are excellent with lots of work being put into the school; these new facilities cater to a wide ranger of needs, and promote an excellent learning environment. As a BSL communication support assistant you will be providing 1-1 support for a hearing impaired students educational needs as well as their emotional and behavioural well-being.

The ideal candidate:

  • Creative, patient and flexible in approaches to education
  • Support elements of basic life skills and social skills
  • Support personal development and promote independent learning
