Behaviour Teaching Assistant

Location: Thrapston, Northamptonshire

Contract: Full-time / Term-time only (Part-time considered)

Salary: 92.63- 100 (dependent on experience)

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school community in Thrapston. This role involves working closely with pupils who may display challenging behaviour, helping them engage positively with learning and develop essential social and emotional skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with behavioural, emotional, and social needs (SEMH)
  • Implement behaviour management strategies consistently
  • Build strong, positive relationships with students
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support
  • Monitor and record student progress and behaviour
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Experience working with children or young people (school, care, or youth work setting)
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • A proactive and flexible approach
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, Team Teach – desirable but not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
