Location: Thrapston, NN14
Position: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Hours: Full-time, Monday- Friday, 8:30am-15:30pm
Contract: Ongoing opportunities, with permanent positions available
Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant who is confident supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs?
We are currently looking for enthusiastic, resilient and nurturing SEMH Teaching Assistants to join a specialist educational setting in Thrapston (NN14), supporting students across KS3–KS4.
The Role
You will work closely with students who may present with a range of behavioural, emotional and additional needs, helping them to engage with their education and develop positive relationships and behaviours.
The successful candidates will be confident managing challenging behaviour and able to remain calm, consistent and supportive in difficult situations.
We’re Looking For Someone Who:
- Has experience working with challenging behaviour or SEMH needs
- Is confident with behaviour management and de-escalation
- Has excellent relationship-building skills
- Is patient, resilient and emotionally intelligent
- Can build trust and positive relationships with young people
- Is consistent and confident in setting appropriate boundaries
- Can work effectively as part of a wider pastoral and teaching team
- Is passionate about helping young people achieve their potential
- Has experience in a school, college, residential, youth work or similar setting (desirable)
