Behaviour Support Worker needed in LEEDS

Working on behlaf of my client, a well respected secondary school in Leeds. I am searching for a Behaviour Support Worker on a full time basis from Jan 2019.

The school continues to provide mainstream and alternative education and youth work initiatives for young people aged 11-16 who struggle to achieve within more conventional education settings. The school delivers a full time curriculum which includes Functional Skills Maths and English, Cultural development and life skills alongside site specific, vocational qualifications including Land Based Studies, Animal Care, Creative Media Production and Sport and Active Leisure.

As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will be working with individual or small groups of young people to support access to learning activities within the classroom. As many of the subjects studied also include practical work, you will also be required to give hands on assistance outside of the classroom which may include working with animals within the city farm.

This is a demanding role, working with young people who can display very challenging behaviour. You must be confident in dealing with the social and emotional issues at the heart of disengagement with mainstream schooling whilst ensuring that students' educational needs are met. We welcome applications from experienced Behaviour Support Workers, as well as those with a background in Youth Work, Social Work or Sports Coaching.

The successful applicant will be required on a full time basis (5 days a week during term time) for a minimum of one term, with an opportunity to apply for a permanent role within school following a successful probationary period.
