Behaviour Support Mentor
Do you have a keen interest in working with young people with barriers to learning?
If so, then Teaching Personnel are currently seeking applications from Behaviour Support Mentors for an upcoming role in one of our key client secondary schools that is based in Hindley, Wigan.
The school require a Behaviour Support Mentor to start at the earliest convenience, ideally before Easter for a full-time position until the end of the academic year.
Due to the Inclusion Manager and SENCO identifying a small number of pupils who require additional support, the school now wish to appoint a dedicated member of staff to work closely with these students.
Applicant requirements;
- Must have worked within secondary education previously
- Be confident supporting pupils aged (11-16) within their studies across all subject areas
- Hold previous experience supporting pupils with moderate learning difficulties
- Be able to build positive working relationships with pupils who display challenging behaviour and help them engage within lessons.
- Be able to start this position ASAP
This role is to work with specific pupils to effectively engage them with their studies. You will be expected to work on a 1-to-1 basis and with small groups to act as positive influence in their lives.
The ideal candidate will be confident challenging disengaged behaviour effectively. You must be able to de-escalate apathy to learning in a calm manner. You will be responsible for reinforcing positive behaviour management strategies and recording progress for the Inclusion Manager.
If successful you will be working within an average sized secondary school 1000 pupils on roll. 90% of the pupils are from White British backgrounds with the number of pupils who speak English as an Additional Language being lower than the national average. In its' most recent Ofsted report, the school was commended for the provisions that are put in place for every pupil to achieve. It also stated that the students show high levels of respect to each other and to the staff.
