Due to an extremely high demand Teaching Personnel are looking to appoint a number of Behaviour Support Assistant's on a full time basis from January 2019 to work at a Alternative Provision in Leeds.

The school caters for young people aged 11-16 years old with complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs. The school offers an alternative curriculum, focusing on vocational subjects like Construction, Health and Social Care, and Animal Care alongside core subject lessons in Maths and English. Pupils that have been unable to make progress within mainstream environments benefit from a distinct approach, taking their holistic needs into account.

The ideal candidate will:

• Have previous experience supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health
• Have a sound understanding of meeting the needs of learners who can exhibit challenging behaviour
• Be passionate about supporting the delivery of an alternative curriculum
• Possess additional training in Team Teach, MAPA or other recognised Positive Intervention training

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will need to be patient, with a great deal of resilience in order to provide reliable support to young people in times of stress. You will have a strong commitment to young people and a sound understanding of the factors affecting their lives. In addition, you will have strong interpersonal skills to be able to communicate effectively with pupils, a large staff team, multi-agency professionals and parents/carers.
