We are seeking a committed Behaviour Support Assistant to join our dedicated team in a thriving secondary school.

In this vital role, you will work closely with staff and students to promote a calm, respectful, and safe learning environment. You will help students develop the social, emotional, and behavioural skills needed to engage positively in school life and achieve their full potential.

The Role:

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will support the Behaviour Manager and wider pastoral team in responding to behaviour concerns, implementing interventions, and promoting high expectations across the school. Your work will help remove barriers to learning and ensure continuity of education for all students.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the implementation of behaviour policies and individual support plans
  • Responding to behaviour incidents in real time and helping to de-escalate situations
  • Providing 1:1 or small group support focused on emotional regulation and positive behaviour
  • Liaising with pastoral teams, Heads of Year, and safeguarding leads to provide joined-up support
  • Recording and tracking behaviour incidents accurately and maintaining relevant documentation
  • Building trusted relationships with students to support their personal development
  • Supporting reintegration meetings and restorative conversations

What We’re Looking For:

We are looking for someone who is calm, empathetic, and confident in managing behaviour in a secondary school setting. You will have a firm but fair approach, excellent interpersonal skills, and a genuine commitment to student wellbeing.

You should have:

  • Experience in a behaviour or pastoral support role, ideally in a secondary school
  • The ability to remain calm and solution-focused in challenging situations
  • A strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and safeguarding procedures
  • Confidence in working with young people with a range of emotional and behavioural needs
  • The ability to build positive relationships and set consistent expectations
  • A high level of emotional intelligence, patience, and resilience
  • A commitment to equality, inclusion, and the safeguarding of all students

Why Join Us?:

  • Be part of a supportive and forward-thinking team
  • Make a real difference in the lives of young people every day
  • Access ongoing training and development opportunities
  • Help shape a positive and inclusive school culture
  • Work in a school that values respect, wellbeing, and high aspirations
