Behaviour Support Mentor – Rochdale

Starting November - ASAP

A client secondary school close to the centre of Rochdale are requiring the support of a Behaviour Support Mentor on a temporary basis from November, to work with identified pupils who are on Education Plans focusing on improving challenging behaviour.

Due to a large pupil intake this academic year, the head teacher is looking to appoint a Behaviour Support Mentor as soon as possible to work alongside the school SENCO and Inclusion Manager to provide tailored intervention to pupils who are at risk of exclusion. You will be working with a group of pupils aged 11-16, all from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The role of Behaviour Support Mentor would be best suited to those individuals with previous experience in a similar role or working with challenging young people, in order to motivate and drive attainment.

Role and Responsibilities of the Behaviour Support Mentor role:

-          Supporting a Rochdale based secondary school with behaviour management

-          Working closely with identified pupils in small groups and 1:1

-          Delivering tailored learning activities with these pupils to raise attainment in core subjects

-          Acting as a positive role model and mentor for these pupils

-          Flexible opportunity to work around your availability – full time or part time hours

-          November to January initially, with the view of being extended

-          Earning up to GBP300 per week!

The ideal candidate for the role of Behaviour Support Mentor will be educated to degree level, have a passion for helping disadvantaged young people and be confident dealing with challenging behaviour

Teaching Personnel work particularly close with this secondary school in the centre of Rochdale for all its recruitment needs. This year, the school have advised they are having a big focus pastoral support to ensure identified pupils are wellsupported in reaching their full potential.  The school are really keen to hear from people who have experience in Youth Work and who live close to Rochdale town centre as this works well for the school. In recent Ofsted reports, the school was commended for its overall improvement but still requires some support with behaviour management.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
