Behaviour Support Assistant
Job description
Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them achieve their full potential? We are currently recruiting Behaviour Support Officers to work across a range of secondary schools in Oldham. Both full-time and part-time opportunities are available, making this an excellent option for experienced education professionals as well as individuals looking to transition into a rewarding school-based role.
This role is ideal for candidates who thrive on building positive relationships, supporting student wellbeing and helping create a safe and productive learning environment. Working closely with school staff, you will provide support to students who may be experiencing behavioural, social, emotional or attendance-related challenges, helping them engage positively with their education.
As a Behaviour Support Officer, you will work with students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, delivering targeted interventions, promoting positive behaviour and encouraging personal development. You will play a key role in helping students overcome barriers to learning, improve their confidence and develop strategies that enable them to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
Successful candidates will be confident communicators with a calm and resilient approach. You will be able to build trust and rapport with young people, effectively manage challenging situations and act as a positive role model. A genuine passion for supporting students and helping them reach their goals is essential.
Previous experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals is highly desirable. Applications are welcomed from Behaviour Mentors, Learning Mentors, Youth Workers, Teaching Assistants, Pastoral Support Workers, Inclusion Officers, Residential Care Workers, Support Workers, Sports Coaches, Attendance Officers and candidates with transferable skills from similar sectors.
Responsibilities may include supporting students with behavioural and emotional needs, monitoring attendance and engagement, assisting with behaviour management strategies, delivering intervention sessions, liaising with teaching and pastoral teams, maintaining accurate records and contributing to a positive and inclusive school culture.
These opportunities offer valuable experience within secondary education settings and are ideal for individuals considering careers in teaching, educational psychology, youth work, social care, safeguarding or pastoral support.
If you are looking for a rewarding role where every day brings the opportunity to positively impact a young person's future, we would love to hear from you.
