Job Title: Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant – SEMH
Gateshead | Full-Time | Immediate Start
Pay Scale: £90-100 a day
Are you passionate about supporting young people with emotional and behavioural needs?
Teaching Personnel is seeking a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to join a well-regarded specialist school in Gateshead. You will support pupils with SEMH needs, many of whom have experienced trauma, anxiety, attachment difficulties or mental health challenges.
The school offers a safe, calm and structured environment, underpinned by trauma-informed practice and strong pastoral care, where pupils are supported to rebuild trust and re-engage with education.
Your Role Will Include:
- Supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups
- Helping young people manage emotions and behaviour
- Using consistent, calm de-escalation strategies
- Building meaningful, trusting relationships
- Supporting learning and classroom engagement
- Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team

- Experienced in working with children or young people
- Patient, empathetic and resilient
- Confident supporting emotional and behavioural needs

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
