The Head Teacher of a Pupil Referral Unit in Sunderland is searching for a Behaviour Support Assistant to work with their year 7 and 8 pupils.
This role will be held on a full time basis and will commence in October, it will be ongoing until the end of the winter term however there is strong potential for this to continue further should you be successful in the role.
The position will involve working with a small group of students with varying Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties. The candidate will need to be confident in managing challenging behaviour as well as being enthusiastic and a positive role model for the students! You will be working with children from a mix of backgrounds, including children in looked after care. You will play a large role in the monitoring of students progress and development both in terms of their academic and personal achievements.
Ideally for this role, you will have experience with challenging behaviour and will be confident managing this. We welcome applicants from a variety of backgrounds including social and youth work. You will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced special needs teachers as well as specialist teaching assistants.
