Teaching Personnel is working with a supportive and inclusive primary school in Swansea seeking a confident, energetic and resilient Behaviour & Sports Mentor to support pupils in Years 4 and 5.
The school prides itself on creating a safe, nurturing environment where every child is valued, respected and encouraged to achieve their full potential. Staff work together to build positive relationships, develop self-confidence and help children overcome barriers to learning. The school believes that emotional wellbeing comes first, and that strong relationships, consistency and encouragement are key to success.
The Role
This is a highly rewarding position supporting pupils who can present behaviour and may struggle to regulate their emotions in a classroom environment.
You will work closely with individual pupils, helping them manage their emotions, build resilience and re-engage with learning through positive activities, particularly sport and physical exercise.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Using sport, movement and physical activity to support emotional regulation
- Delivering positive interventions outside the classroom when required
- Acting as a positive role model and mentor
- Building strong relationships based on trust and consistency
- Encouraging engagement in learning and classroom activities
- Supporting pupils to develop confidence, resilience and self-esteem
- Working alongside teachers and pastoral staff to provide consistent support
