Job description

The Opportunity

We are recruiting a passionate Autism Teaching Assistant to support students with SEN including ASD, PD, PMLD and SLD at a specialist campus in Bournemouth.

This is a part-time role with an immediate start, offering rewarding opportunities across both primary and secondary age groups.

You will be supporting learners aged 5 to 18 in a setting that places care, inclusion and personalised learning at the heart of everything it does.

The Setting

The campus offers a warm, structured and highly supportive environment where staff work closely together to help every pupil thrive. With strong leadership, excellent resources and a clear focus on individual progress, the school is known for its nurturing culture and commitment to supporting students with complex needs.

 

The Role

Working hours are 9.30am to 4.30pm during the school day. You will support students in the classroom and with daily routines, helping them to engage with learning and develop independence and confidence.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting pupils with autism and complex learning needs on a one-to-one or small group basis

  • Assisting with personal development, communication and emotional regulation

  • Working collaboratively with teachers and support staff to implement tailored strategies

 

Essential Experience

To be considered, applicants must have:

  • A minimum of six months’ childcare experience

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN needs, particularly autism and complex needs

  • A calm, patient and empathetic approach

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
