Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a SEND provision in Sunderland who are seeking a teaching assistant on a full time basis, to commence from September working with students with Autism.
The role will involve working on a 1:1 basis with pupils from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 4 who have Autism of varying severity's, many of the students also have sensory impairments and will exhibit challenging behaviour. The students are in need of extra support and guidance primarily with their English and Maths. The main aspect of the role will be helping the children to engage with their learning, and encouraging personal and social development whilst managing challenging behaviour in lesson time. You will be expected to monitor children's academic and personal progress within lessons, and you will have regular meetings with the class teacher to discuss this.
Ideally, the candidate will have experience working with Autism; however the client school welcomes candidates with backgrounds in education, youth/social work, counselling and graduates. You will be passionate about improving the lives of young people and have a strong desire to work with SEND.

Teaching Personnel can offer support assistant's competitive pay rates of up to £65 per day,the position will be held on a temporary basis until at least the Spring term; for the right candidate longer term rates can be negotiated on your behalf.
