Autism Support Worker, Full time, Sutton

Teaching Personnel are currently looking for a Support Worker/SEN Learning Support Assistant to support a child with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This role will be in a main stream primary school based in Sutton.

The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of care, both on a 1-1 basis. You must have previous experience supporting autism in some capacity, alongside a working knowledge of safeguarding rules and regulations. The school would ideally look for a full-time member of staff.

The role:

  • Support an autistic child in your care to complete day-to-day tasks in school
  • Ensure all personal care needs are met
  • Follow care and education plans set to specific individuals
  • Support the class teacher, as and when directed

The successful candidate:

  • Will have experience supporting children or adults with ASD
  • Will be aware of all safeguarding regulations and expectations in a school setting
  • Will have genuine compassion and a want to adequately support the children in your care
  • Experience supporting in a school environment is preferred but not essential
  • Team Teach and/or Makaton training desirable
