Autism Support Teaching Assistant

SEN teaching assistant vacancy – Sydenham

• Full time position, Monday to Friday, term time only, 08:30am – 15:30pm
• Key Stage 2 class support for a class of 8 children
• Students can communicate verbally but they also uses pictures (PECs) to communicate where necessary
• There will be a teacher and another teaching assistant in the classroom at all times
• GBP60 - GBP85 per day, dependent on experience

The school is a mainstream primary school based in Sydenham, which has a unit attached providing tailored education for children who are diagnosed with mild to moderate autism. Students can display challenging behaviour at times so you must feel confident in remaining calm and using de-escalation techniques.

The school is graded as ‘good’ by Ofsted, they have developed positive working partnerships with other schools in the area and they have a great reputation with parents and carers.

The school is looking for you to start at the end of January if possible, however this could be delayed until after the February half term for the right candidate.
