Teaching Assistants – Specialist School (Autism/Asperger’s Focus)

Location: Near Andover, Hampshire, Grateley Village

An established and supportive independent specialist school near Andover is seeking full-time Teaching Assistants to join their dedicated team. The school caters for students aged 9–19 with a primary diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), including Asperger’s Syndrome, alongside associated social, emotional, and communication needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for those passionate about working in an inclusive environment where understanding and supporting neurodiversity is at the heart of everything they do.

The Role:

  • Supporting students with autism/Asperger’s in the classroom and during school activities

  • Promoting independence, communication skills, and emotional regulation

  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and other staff to deliver tailored support

  • Creating a calm, safe, and structured environment that enables students to thrive

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience supporting children or young people, particularly those with autism or additional needs

  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to behaviour and communication

  • The ability to work as part of a team in a dynamic SEN setting

  • A valid DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one

  • Access to a vehicle – the school is located in a rural area not accessible via public transport
