Location: Newport
Start Date: May 2025
Salary: £89–£120 per day (DOE)
⏰ Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM (Full-time & part-time available)

About the Role:
Teaching Personnel is working with a welcoming mainstream primary school in Newport seeking a Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a specialist Learning Resource Base (LRB).
This role focuses on supporting children with ASD, additional learning needs, and behaviours that challenge. Pupils may also experience speech and language difficulties, sensory needs, or developmental delays. You’ll work 1:1 and in small groups, supporting engagement, communication, and emotional regulation.
Key Responsibilities:
Support speech and communication using tailored strategies (e.g., visuals, PECS, Makaton)
Assist with differentiated learning in line with pupils' EHCPs
Foster emotional regulation, confidence, and routine through consistent support
Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO
Create a calm, structured, and inclusive environment
Track pupil progress and contribute to learning and behaviour records
Ideal Candidate Will:
✅ Have experience supporting children with ASD and/or SEMH
✅ Stay calm, positive, and patient under pressure
✅ Understand behaviour as communication and respond with empathy
✅ Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs
✅ Bonus: Training in Team Teach, PECS, or Makaton (not essential—training is provided)
Requirements:
EWC registration
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (child workforce)
Two references from the last 24 months

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
