Autism & Behaviour Intervention Assistant

Location: Bath
Hours: Full Time, Monday–Friday (term time)
Pay: £92.95 – £105 per day

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate, patient and proactive Autism & Behaviour Intervention Assistant to join a specialist education setting in Bath. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), additional learning needs, and behavioural challenges.

You don’t need formal qualifications - what matters most is the right mindset and relevant experience from care, youth work, psychology or education studies, sports coaching, or other people‑focused roles. Full training and guidance will be provided by experienced staff on site.


What You’ll Be Doing

As an Autism & Behaviour Intervention Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for children with ASC and other Special Educational Needs
  • Help implement tailored learning plans and behaviour intervention strategies
  • Support emotional regulation, communication skills and social interaction
  • Use Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) techniques under the guidance of senior practitioners
  • Help maintain a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists and wider support teams
  • Encourage confidence, independence and positive outcomes for each learner

  • Patience, empathy, resilience and a positive, proactive approach
  • Experience from care, youth support, psychology/education courses, sports coaching, or similar roles
  • A genuine passion for supporting autistic and neurodiverse learners
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships
  • The ability to stay calm and supportive during challenging moments
  • Willingness to learn, develop and progress within the role
  • Reliability, teamwork and professionalism

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
