Location: Bath (BA3)
Hours: Full Time, Monday–Friday (term-time)
Salary: £92.95 - £100.10 per day (depending on experience)
About the Role
A warm and supportive primary school in Bath (BA3) is seeking an experienced and confident Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team on a full‑time basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong classroom experience who is ready to take on greater responsibility, including leading small groups, delivering planned lessons, and supporting pupils with a range of SEN needs.
The school is particularly keen to hear from candidates with varied experience supporting children or young people - whether within education or in related sectors such as youth mental health, social work, tutoring, coaching, residential care or mentoring roles.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Deliver pre‑planned lessons and lead small‑group teaching sessions
- Provide targeted 1:1 and group support for pupils with SEN
- Assist with behaviour regulation, emotional wellbeing and engagement
- Support teachers with planning, assessment and classroom preparation
- Adapt activities and resources to meet diverse learning needs
- Create a positive, structured and inclusive learning environment
- Build strong, nurturing relationships with pupils
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENDCOs, and external specialists
- Contribute to progress tracking and pupil development reviews
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking individuals who have:
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a school setting
- Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
- HLTA status is desirable, but strong experience as a TA will also be considered
- A background in people‑focused roles such as youth work, mental health support, social care, tutoring, sports coaching, or mentoring is advantageous
- Confidence leading groups and delivering learning activities
- Patience, resilience and excellent communication skills
- A warm, calm and positive approach to supporting children
- Reliability, adaptability and a proactive attitude to teamwork
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
