Assistant Headteacher – Designated Safeguarding Lead

We are seeking an inspiring and committed senior leader to join a highly respected specialist provision in Street, Somerset. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity with an immediate start.
The school supports pupils aged 4 to 18 with autism, Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), communication and interaction needs, SEMH profiles and complex additional needs. All pupils have Education, Health and Care Plans, and the setting is recognised for its inclusive ethos, strong pastoral care and dedication to preparing young people for adulthood.
The Role
This strategic leadership post focuses on Personal Development and Safeguarding. Key responsibilities include:

Acting as Designated Safeguarding Lead and Designated Teacher

Leading the whole-school safeguarding culture and curriculum (including PSHE and RSE)

Monitoring behaviour and attendance, ensuring effective interventions
-
Overseeing EHCP processes, provision mapping and annual reviews
-
Championing staff and pupil wellbeing
-
Undertaking a teaching commitment of up to two days per week

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
