A dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant is required for a Wigan-based Secondary school starting in January 2024.

This temporary position, with the potential for a permanent role, involves supporting identified pupils and those on the Autistic Spectrum (ASC) on a 1:1 basis.

Position Details:

  • SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Supporting identified pupils, including those with ASC, on a 1:1 basis
  • 12-month temporary position starting in January 2024, with potential for a permanent position
  • Previous experience working with students with Special Education Needs is beneficial but not essential

Our client secondary school is a mainstream school that supports students from the local area with additional needs such as ADHD and Autism. They have an excellent reputation within the local area and offer great training opportunities for newly employed staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside students with identified needs, including ASC and those displaying challenging behavior
  • Promote positive learning and behavior, helping students make consistent improvements
  • Possess a calming nature when working with students with SEN needs
  • Identify and defuse stressful situations before they escalate
  • School Information:
  • Ofsted rated as 'Good,' with pupil behavior highlighted as 'Outstanding'

Located in the Ashton-in-Makerfield area on the outskirts of Wigan Easily commutable from areas such as St Helens, Warrington, Leigh, and Chorley via public transport or short drive from the M6

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
