SEN Teaching Assistant required in Harrogate

  • A strong knowledge and understanding of Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and the complexities related to Autism
  • Experience of contributing and implementing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP)
  • Experience of working with young adults with Special Educational Needs and Autism

Teaching Personnel are working with a Specialist College in Harrogate who are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant (SENTA) to support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC).

The college caters for students aged 16-25 with a range of Special Educational Needs including Autism, Hearing and Visual Impairments, Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities and Speech, Language and Communication Needs. As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, it will be your role to support students with additional needs both inside and outside of the classroom. You will be committed to achieving outstanding results and for students to always have a 'can do' attitude to learning. You will contribute to the delivery of a range of learning activities including core subjects and independent life-skills, preparing students for their next steps in education or employment.

You must have prior experience as a Teaching Assistant and have an interest in supporting young adults in an education setting. You must be able to travel to Harrogate (there is a train station within walking distance of the college) and be available on a long term basis (minimum 3 days a week during term time).
