A highly reputable SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) secondary school in Wokingham is seeking to appoint a passionate and dedicated Art Teacher to join their committed team from September 2025. The School
This specialist setting provides a supportive and structured environment for students aged 11–16 with SEMH needs. The school is widely recognised for its therapeutic ethos, dedicated staff team and innovative curriculum that empowers every learner to reach their full potential.
The Role
The successful candidate will deliver a broad and engaging Art curriculum, tailored to meet the diverse needs of students. They will use creativity and empathy to inspire pupils, helping them express themselves positively and develop both artistic and emotional literacy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver high-quality Art lessons across KS3 and KS4.
- Adapt teaching methods and resources to meet individual learning needs.
- Create a calm, supportive, and stimulating classroom environment.
- Work closely with pastoral and therapeutic teams to support student wellbeing.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school, including enrichment and project work.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Experience teaching Art at secondary level.
- A strong understanding of SEMH needs and strategies to support behaviour positively.
- Excellent classroom management and the ability to build strong relationships with students.
- A flexible, patient and resilient approach.
- Experience in an SEN or alternative provision setting is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
